वनामकृवित जागतिक जल दिन साजरा

 जल वापराबाबत संवेदनशील राहावे..... कुलगुरू डॉ. इन्द्र मणि

वसंतराव नाईक मराठवाडा कृषि विद्यापीठात शिक्षण संचालनालयद्वारे जागतिक जल दिन साजरा करण्यात आला. या कार्यक्रमासाठी विद्यापीठाचे माननीय कुलगुरू डॉ इन्द्र मणि यांनी आभासी माध्यमाद्वारे अध्यक्ष पद भूषविले. यावेळी संचालक शिक्षण  डॉ. उदय खोडके, सहयोगी अधिष्ठाता डॉ जया बंगाळे, डॉ संजीव बंटेवाड, विभाग प्रमुख डॉ. राजेश कदम, डॉ पी.एस. नेहरकर, डॉ. दिगंबर पेरके, विद्यार्थी कल्याण अधिकारी डॉ. पी.आर. झंवर आदींची उपस्थिती होती आणि संचालक संशोधन डॉ. जगदीश जहागीरदार, सहयोगी अधिष्ठाता डॉ. भगवान असेवार आणि डॉ राकेश अहिरे हे आभासी माध्यमाद्वारे सहभागी झाले होते.

अध्यक्षीय भाषणात बोलताना माननीय कुलगुरू डॉ इन्द्र मणि म्हणाले की, यावर्षीच्या जागतिक जल दिनाच्या निमित्ताने "शांततेसाठी जल" ही संकल्पना आहे, म्हणून पाण्याचा प्रत्येक थेंब वाचवला पाहिजे. यासाठी पाण्याचे व्यवस्थापन आणि वितरण व्यवस्थित तसेच काटेकोरपणे होणे आवश्यक आहे. मराठवाडा हा सतत दुष्काळग्रस्त असतो. यामुळे पाण्याची पातळी अतिशय खोलीवर गेलेली आहे, म्हणून पाणी वापराबाबत अतिशय संवेदनशील राहून सिंचन साठ्यात मोठी वाढ करावी लागेल तसेच शेततळ्यांची संख्या वाढवून पाण्याचे स्त्रोत वाढवावे लागतील. सिंचनासाठी पाणी वापरत असताना सूक्ष्म सिंचन पद्धतीचा वापर करावा असे नमूद केले.

कार्यक्रमात संचालक शिक्षण डॉ उदय खोडके यांनी पावर पॉइंटद्वारे मार्गदर्शन करून पाण्याचे महत्व पटवून दिले. यात त्यांनी सजीव-निर्जीव वस्तू साठी पाण्याची गरज असते, वाहून जाणारे पाणी थांबविले पाहिजे याबरोबरच पाण्याचा वापर बहुविध प्रकारे आणि पूर्ण क्षमतेने करावा, उपलब्ध जमिनीपैकी किमान १५% जमीन जलसाठा करण्यासाठी उपयोगात आणावी पिकासाठी वापरात येणारे पाणी दहा टक्के वाचले तर इतर क्षेत्रासाठी त्याचा ४० टक्के वाटा मिळतो, या सर्व बाबी सांगितल्या. तसेच विद्यापीठाने कमी पाण्यावर येणारे अनेक वाण तसेच पाण्याची बचत होणाऱ्या लागवड पद्धती विकसित केलेल्या आहेत. या सर्व शेतकऱ्यापर्यंत प्रभावीपणे पोहोचवून त्याचा पूर्ण क्षमतेने वापर होणे आवश्यक आहे असे सांगितले.

कार्यक्रमाचे सूत्रसंचालन डॉ. धीरज पाथ्रीकर यांनी तर आभार डॉ. गणपत कोटे यांनी मानले. कार्यक्रमात विद्यापीठातील प्राध्यापक, अधिकारी, कर्मचारी आणि विद्यार्थी बहुसंख्येने उपस्थित होते.

 

VNMKV Parbhani celebrated the World Water Day with Enthusiastic Awareness Initiatives

Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth (VNMKV), Parbhani, celebrated World Water Day on 22nd March with an awareness program for students and the community. The day was highlighted with a unique Jal Pujan ceremony in lined farm ponds, a Jal Pledge by attendees, and an awareness campaign, reflecting the institution's commitment to sustainable water management practices.

The special program, hosted in a hybrid format at the Golden Jubilee Hall, Department of Economics, saw significant participation both physically and virtually. Prof. Indra Mani, the Honorable Vice Chancellor of VNMKV, in his keynote address, underscored the critical need for heightened awareness and sensitivity towards water usage. He emphasized the importance of rainwater storage and efficient utilization, sharing insights into the university's initiatives for rainwater harvesting from research farms and rooftops for supplemental irrigation purposes. 

Highlighting the university's efforts, Prof. Mani informed that two large and three small farm ponds with a combined capacity of 4.5 crore liters have been established on the university farm. These ponds, designed to harvest runoff water, support the use of sprinkler irrigation systems to provide protective irrigation to crops, thus enhancing seed production. Notably, five additional farm ponds have been constructed recently, enhancing the university's rainwater harvesting capacity to 9 crore liters, with plans to expand to 16 crore liters in the future.

Dr. Uday Khodke, Director of Instruction & Dean, and Dr. Jagdish Jahagirdar, Director of Research, guided on water management. Dr. Khodke presented strategies for the sustainable use of water in dryland areas, while Dr. Jahagirdar urged students to adopt water-saving practices in daily life.

The Associate Deans, Heads, and a large number of students participated in the event.
