वसंतराव नाईक मराठवाडा कृषि विद्यापीठाच्या बदनापूर येथील कृषि संशोधन केंद्राद्वारे विकसित करण्यात आलेला तुरीचा बिडिएनपीएच १८ - ५ या संकरित वाणास अखिल भारतीय समन्वित संशोधन प्रकल्प खरीप कडधान्य, कानपूरद्वारा इक्रीसॅट, हैद्राबाद येथे घेण्यात आलेल्या वार्षिक समूह बैठकीत मान्यता देण्यात आली असून या वाणाची शिफारस महाराष्ट्रासह भारताच्या मध्य विभागासाठी करण्यात आलेली आहे. विशेष बाब म्हणजे महाराष्ट्रातील कृषि विद्यापिठाद्वारे शिफारस करण्यात आलेला हा पहिलाच तुरीचा संकरित वाण आहे. वसंतराव नाईक मराठवाडा कृषि विद्यापीठाच्या बदनापूर येथील कृषि संशोधन केंद्राने यापूर्वी तुरीच्या वाणाच्या विकासामध्ये राष्ट्रीय पातळीवर अनेक विक्रम केलेले आहेत आणि बिडिएनपीएच १८-५ या संकरित वाणामुळे शेतकऱ्यांची भरीव आर्थिक उन्नती साधता येईल. शेतकऱ्यांसाठी हा संकरित वाण लवकरच उपलब्ध करण्यात येईल असे मा. कुलगुरू डॉ. इन्द्र मणि यांनी नमूद केले.
या वाणाची उत्पादकता १७५९ ते २१५९ किलोग्रॅम प्रति हेक्टरी इतकी असून हा वाण १५५ ते १७० दिवसात तयार होतो. दाण्याचा रंग पांढरा असून मर आणि वांझ या तुरीच्या प्रमुख रोगांकरिता हा वाण मध्यम प्रतिकारक आहे. तसेच किडींना कमी बळी पडतो.
सदर वाण विकसित करण्यामध्ये वसंतराव नाईक मराठवाडा कृषि विद्यापीठाचे माननीय कुलगुरू डॉ. इन्द्र मणि, संशोधन संचालक डॉ. खिजर बेग, माजी संशोधन संचालक डॉ. दत्तप्रसाद वासकर, शिक्षण संचालक डॉ. उदय खोडके आणि विस्तार शिक्षण संचालक डॉ. धर्मराज गोखले यांच्या मार्गदर्शनाखाली डॉ. डी. के. पाटील, डॉ. व्ही. के. गीते या शास्त्रज्ञांनी डॉ. के. टी. जाधव, प्रशांत सोनटक्के, डॉ. पी ए पगार आणि डॉ ज्ञानेश्वर मुटकुळे यांच्या सहकार्याने हा वाण प्रसारित केला. या वाण प्रसारामुळे विद्यापीठामध्ये उत्सहाचे वातावरण निर्माण झाले असून विद्यापीठाच्या सर्व महाविद्यालाचे सहयोगी अधिष्ठाता, विभाग प्रमुख, प्राध्यापक, अधिकारी आणि कर्मचारी यांनी कृषि संशोधन केंद्राच्या शास्त्रज्ञांच्या चमूचे अभिनंदन केले.
VNMKV developed the first hybrid
variety of pigeon pea (BDNPH 18-5) in Maharashtra
This hybrid variety will soon be made available to the farmers....Dr. Indra Mani, Hon. Vice-Chancellor.
The hybrid pigeon pea variety BDNPH 18-5, developed by the Agricultural Research Center at Badnapur, under Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth Parbhani, has been approved by the All India Coordinated Research Project on Kharif Pulses, ICAR –IIPR Kanpur, in the annual group meeting held at ICRISAT, Hyderabad during 27-29 May. This variety has been recommended for the central zone of India, including Maharashtra. Notably, it is the first hybrid pigeon pea variety ever developed by any Agricultural Universities in Maharashtra. The Agricultural Research Center at Badnapur, under Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth Parbhani, has previously achieved many national records in the development of pigeon pea varieties. The hybrid variety BDNPH 18-5 is expected to significantly enhance the economic prosperity of farmers. Dr. Indra Mani, Hon. Vice-Chancellor stated that this hybrid variety will soon be made available to the farmers.
The productivity of this variety ranges from 1759 to 2159 kg/ha, and it matures in 155 to 170 days. The seeds are white in color, and the variety shows moderate resistance to the major diseases of pigeon pea, such as wilt and sterility mosaic disease, and is also less susceptible to pests.
Variety was developed under the valuable guidance of Dr. Indra Mani, Hon.Vice-Chancellor, Dr. K. S. Baig, Director of Research, Dr. Dattaprasad Waskar, Former Director of Research, Dr. Uday Khodke, Director of Education and Dr. Dharmaraj Gokhale, Director of Extension Education by the scientists Dr. D. K. Patil and Dr. V. K. Gite, with the assistance of Dr. K. T. Jadhav, Prashant Sontakke, Dr. P. A. Pagar, and Dr. Dnyaneshwar Mutkule, played a crucial role in the development of this variety. Due to this variety development created an enthusiastic atmosphere in the University. All Associate Deans, Heads, Professors, Officers, and Staff of the University's have congratulated the team of scientists of the Agricultural Research Center, Badnapur.
