कार्बन शोषण व जैवइंधनासाठी सूक्ष्मशैवाळ तंत्रज्ञानावर राष्ट्रीय परिसंवाद; माननीय कुलगुरू प्रा. (डॉ.) इन्द्र मणि यांचे मुख्य मार्गदर्शन

 

आनंद (गुजरात) येथील सरदार पटेल नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा संशोधन संस्था (Sardar Patel Renewable Energy research Institute - SPRERI), आनंद (गुजरात) यांच्या वतीने कार्बन शोषण, जैवइंधन निर्मिती व मूल्यवर्धित उत्पादनांसाठी सूक्ष्मशैवाल क्षेत्रातील प्रगत तंत्रज्ञान” (Advances in Microalgae for Carbon Capture, Biofuels and Value-Added Products) या विषयावर दिनांक ९ जानेवारी २०२६ रोजी डॉ. अमृता पटेल सेमिनार हॉल येथे राष्ट्रीय परिसंवादाचे आयोजन करण्यात आले होते. या परिसंवादात देशभरातील नामवंत शास्त्रज्ञ, संशोधक, उद्योग प्रतिनिधी, विद्यार्थी व धोरणकर्त्यांनी सहभाग घेतला.

या परिसंवादाचे मुख्य अतिथी म्हणून वसंतराव नाईक मराठवाडा कृषि विद्यापीठ, परभणीचे माननीय कुलगुरू प्रा. (डॉ.) इन्द्र मणि उपस्थित होते. उद्घाटन सत्रात त्यांनी मार्गदर्शन करताना सांगितले की, आज शेतीकडे केवळ अन्न उत्पादनापुरते न पाहता, हवामान बदल रोखणे, उत्सर्जन कमी करणे, संसाधनांचा कार्यक्षम वापर आणि ग्रामीण भागात रोजगार निर्मिती अशी बहुआयामी जबाबदारी आहे. सूक्ष्मशैवाल तंत्रज्ञान या सर्व आव्हानांना एकत्रित उत्तर देऊ शकते.

ते पुढे म्हणाले की, सूक्ष्मशैवाळ कार्बन डायऑक्साइड शोषून घेण्याची मोठी क्षमता ठेवतात, सांडपाण्यावर आणि निकृष्ट जमिनीवर वाढू शकतात व जैवइंधन, जैवखते, पशुखाद्य, औषधी घटक यांसारखी मूल्यवर्धित उत्पादने देऊ शकतात. त्यामुळे ते हवामान-अनुकूल शेती, ऊर्जा सुरक्षा आणि जैव-अर्थव्यवस्था उभारण्यासाठी महत्त्वाचे साधन ठरू शकतात.

या प्रसंगी त्यांनी संशोधकांना उद्देशून सांगितले की, संशोधन केवळ प्रयोगशाळेपुरते मर्यादित न राहता ते शेतकरी व उद्योगांपर्यंत पोहोचणे गरजेचे आहे. यासाठी विद्यापीठे, भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान संस्था, उद्योग आणि धोरणकर्ते यांच्यात मजबूत सहकार्य आवश्यक आहे.

या कार्यक्रमात सरदार पटेल नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा संशोधन संस्थेचे संचालक डॉ. अनिल कुमार दुबे, आयसीएआर–सीआयएई भोपाळचे डॉ. विनोद के. भार्गव, गुजरात स्टेट बायोटेक्नॉलॉजी मिशनच्या डॉ. अनुसुया भडाळकर, चेअरमन इंजि. भिखुभाई बी. पटेल आदी मान्यवर उपस्थित होते. विविध तांत्रिक सत्रांमध्ये आयआयटी गुवाहाटी, आयआयटी खरगपूर, टीएनएयू कोयंबतूर, सीएसआयआर–सीएसएमसीआरआय भावनगर यांसारख्या संस्थांचे शास्त्रज्ञांनी सूक्ष्मशैवाळ आधारित जैवइंधन, कार्बन शोषण, सांडपाणी शुद्धीकरण, जैवउत्पादने व जैव-अर्थव्यवस्थेवरील सादरीकरणे केली.

शेवटी झालेल्या पॅनेल चर्चेत धोरण, संशोधन व उद्योग यांची सांगड घालून सूक्ष्मशैवाळ तंत्रज्ञानाचा व्यापक वापर कसा करता येईल यावर सखोल चर्चा झाली. परिसंवादातून नव्या सहकार्यांच्या संधी, धोरणात्मक सूचना आणि शाश्वत विकासासाठी दिशा मिळाल्याचे आयोजकांनी नमूद केले.

National Seminar on Microalgae Technology for Carbon Capture and Biofuels; Key Guidance by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Indra Mani.

A national seminar on the theme “Advances in Microalgae for Carbon Capture, Biofuels and Value-Added Products” was organized on 9 January 2026 at the Dr. Amrita Patel Seminar Hall by the Sardar Patel Renewable Energy Research Institute (SPRERI), Anand (Gujarat).

The seminar witnessed participation from renowned scientists, researchers, industry representatives, students, and policymakers from across the country.

Hon’able Vice Chancellor of Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University, Parbhani, Prof. (Dr.) Indra Mani was present as the Chief Guest of the seminar. While addressing the inaugural session, he stated that today agriculture should not be viewed merely as a means of food production, but as a multidimensional responsibility that includes combating climate change, reducing emissions, ensuring efficient use of resources, and creating employment opportunities in rural areas. Microalgae technology, he said, has the potential to address all these challenges in an integrated manner. He further explained that microalgae have a high capacity to absorb carbon dioxide, can grow on wastewater and degraded lands, and can generate value-added products such as biofuels, biofertilizers, animal feed, and pharmaceutical components. Therefore, they can become an important tool for promoting climate-smart agriculture, energy security, and circular bio-economy development.

On this occasion, he urged researchers to ensure that their work should not remain confined to laboratories, but must reach farmers and industries. For this purpose, he emphasized the need for strong collaboration among universities, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, industries, and policymakers.

In this programme, eminent dignitaries such as Dr. Anil Kumar Dubey, Director of the Sardar Patel Renewable Energy Research Institute, Dr. Vinod K. Bhargava from ICAR–CIAE, Bhopal, Dr. Anusuya Bhadalkar from the Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission, and Chairman Engr. Bhikhubhai B. Patel were present.

During the various technical sessions, scientists from institutions such as IIT Guwahati, IIT Kharagpur, TNAU Coimbatore, and CSIR–CSMCRI Bhavnagar delivered presentations on microalgae-based biofuels, carbon capture, wastewater treatment, bioproducts, and the bioeconomy.

In the concluding panel discussion, an in-depth deliberation was held on how microalgae technology could be widely adopted by integrating policy, research, and industry. The organisers stated that the symposium provided new opportunities for collaboration, policy recommendations, and directions for sustainable development.
