मुख्यमंत्री नामदार श्री देवेंद्रजी फडणवीस आणि माननीय श्री श्रीरंग देवबा लाड
यांना डॉक्टर ऑफ सायन्स (मानद) पदवी प्रदान करून सन्मानित करण्यात आले.
तसेच एकूण २९६८ स्नातकांना विविध पदव्या प्रदान करून गौरविण्यात आले.

विद्यार्थ्यांनी
मिळवलेल्या ज्ञानाचा उपयोग वैयक्तिक, कौटुंबिक आणि राष्ट्रीय
विकासासाठी करावा, तसेच जागरूक राहून सातत्याने कार्य करावे.
आपल्यात सामर्थ्य निर्माण करणारी कृती सतत ठेवावी आणि मानवी मूल्यांची जपणूक करावी,
असे प्रतिपादन भारतीय कृषि संशोधन परिषदेचे (ICAR) माजी महासंचालक तथा कृषि संशोधन आणि शिक्षण विभागाचे (DARE) माजी सचिव माननीय डॉ. मंगला राय यांनी केले. ते वसंतराव नाईक मराठवाडा
कृषि विद्यापीठाच्या २७व्या दीक्षांत समारंभातील अभिभाषणात बोलत होते. हा समारंभ
दिनांक ११ डिसेंबर २०२५ रोजी उत्साहात संपन्न झाला.
अध्यक्षस्थान
विद्यापीठाचे माननीय कुलगुरू प्रा. (डॉ.) इन्द्र मणि यांनी भूषविले. व्यासपीठावर
पं.दे.कृ.वि.चे माननीय कुलगुरू डॉ. शरद गडाख, म.फु.कृ.वि.चे माननीय
कुलगुरू डॉ. विलास खर्चे, माननीय जिल्हाधिकारी श्री.
संजयसिंह चव्हाण, मनपा आयुक्त माननीय श्री. नितीन नार्वेकर,
प्रगतिशील शेतकरी आणि ज्येष्ठ कार्यकर्ते माननीय श्री. श्रीरंग
देवबा लाड, तसेच वनामाकृविचे माननीय माजी कुलगुरू डॉ.
वेदप्रकाश पाटील, डॉ. के. पी. गोरे, डॉ.
अशोक ढवण, कृषि परिषदेचे सदस्य श्री. जनार्धन कातकडे,

पुढे बोलताना
त्यांनी विद्यापीठाच्या उल्लेखनीय कार्याचे कौतुक करत विद्यार्थ्यांना, शिक्षकांना
आणि संपूर्ण विद्यापीठ परिवाराला मनःपूर्वक शुभेच्छा दिल्या. या दीक्षांत समारंभात
काही विद्यार्थ्यांनी तीन-तीन पुरस्कार मिळवले असल्याचे नमूद करत त्यांनी समाधान
व्यक्त केले. मेहनत केल्यास पुरस्कार मिळतात आणि कार्यक्षमता वाढते, हे यातून स्पष्ट होते, असे ते म्हणाले.
भारतीय
कृषीच्या बदलत्या दिशा आणि भविष्यातील संधींबाबत बोलताना त्यांनी सांगितले की, भारतीय
शेतीला नव्या तंत्रज्ञानाची जोड, संशोधनाधिष्ठित मार्गदर्शन
आणि योग्य प्रशिक्षण मिळाल्यास ती अधिक उंची गाठू शकते. हवामानबदल, पाणीटंचाई, मृदा आरोग्य आणि बदलत्या बाजारपेठेची
आव्हाने सक्षमपणे हाताळण्याची भारतीय शेतकऱ्यांची क्षमता मोठी आहे; फक्त त्यांना अचूक माहिती आणि आधुनिक तंत्रज्ञानाची जोड आवश्यक आहे,
यावर त्यांनी विशेष भर दिला. त्यांनी पुढे स्पष्ट केले की, अचूक शेती (Precision Farming), जलसंधारण तंत्र,
बीज सुधारणा, कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता तसेच डिजिटल
कृषी — हे घटक पुढील दशकात कृषी विकासाला नवी चालना देणार आहेत.
राष्ट्रीय
शैक्षणिक धोरण–2020 नुसार अभ्यासक्रमातील सुधारणा, उत्कृष्ट संशोधन व
तंत्रज्ञान हस्तांतरण, शिक्षणातील मूल्याधिष्ठित दृष्टिकोन,
कृषी विकासासाठी ‘गुंतवणूक आणि अधिक गुंतवणूक’ ही मूलभूत गरज,
कृषी व शेतकरी विकासासाठी एकात्मिक आणि आधुनिक कृषि प्रणालींची
निर्मिती, प्रदेशनिहाय शाश्वत उत्पादन प्रणालींची उभारणी,
माती–पाणी–जैवविविधता संवर्धन, पिकसंरक्षणाची
प्रभावी अंमलबजावणी, इनपुट–आउटपुट आधारित कृषी मॉडेल्स आणि
बहुआयामी अॅग्रो-इकोसिस्टमची निर्मिती — या मुद्द्यांवर त्यांनी विशेषत्वाने
प्रकाश टाकला.
अध्यक्षीय भाषणात
माननीय कुलगुरू प्रा. (डॉ.) इन्द्र मणि यांनी दीक्षांत समारंभासाठी महाराष्ट्र आणि
गुजरात राज्यांचे माननीय राज्यपाल तथा विद्यापीठाचे माननीय कुलपती श्री आचार्य
देवव्रत आणि माननीय कृषि मंत्री तथा विद्यापीठाचे प्रतिकुलपती मा. ना. श्री
दत्तात्रय भरणे यांनी पाठविलेल्या शुभेच्छांचा उल्लेख केला. माननीय कुलगुरूंनी
माननीय मुख्यमंत्री श्री देवेंद्रजी फडणवीस आणि प्रगतशील शेतकरी श्री श्रीरंग उर्फ
दादा लाड यांना ‘डॉक्टर ऑफ सायन्स’ (मानद) पदवीने सन्मानित करण्यात आल्याबद्दल
आनंद व्यक्त करून त्यांचे अभिनंदन केले. तसेच माननीय मुख्यमंत्र्यांच्या
सूचनेनुसार प्रयोगशील शेतकऱ्यांना ‘शेतकरी शास्त्रज्ञ पुरस्कार’ देऊन गौरवण्यात
आल्याबद्दलही त्यांनी समाधान व्यक्त केले. हा पुरस्कार केवळ एका शेतकऱ्याचा नसून
संपूर्ण शेतीव्यवस्थेचा आणि शेतीत कार्य करणाऱ्या सर्व घटकांचा सन्मान आहे, असे
ते म्हणाले. विद्यापीठ ‘शेतकरी देवो भवः’ या भावनेतून कार्यरत असून
विद्यार्थी-केंद्रित शिक्षण, नाविन्यपूर्ण संशोधन, शेतकरी-केंद्रित विस्तारकार्य आणि कर्मचारी-केंद्रित प्रशासन या
तत्त्वांवर कार्य करत असल्याचे त्यांनी नमूद केले. विद्यापीठाच्या सर्व विभागांनी
या कार्यात मनापासून योगदान दिले आहे. संशोधनाच्या आघाडीवरही विद्यापीठ जोखीम
व्यवस्थापन, उत्पादनवाढ आणि आधुनिक तंत्रज्ञान पुरविण्यात
महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका बजावत आहे. कापूस, सोयाबीन आणि तूर या
पिकांच्या संशोधनात विद्यापीठाने लक्षणीय योगदान दिले आहे. काही शेतकऱ्यांचे
उत्पादन अपेक्षेपेक्षा कमी येत असल्याबद्दल त्यांनी चिंता व्यक्त केली आणि
संशोधकांनी या समस्येवर अधिक लक्ष केंद्रीत करून संशोधनाची दिशा ठरवावी, असे आवाहन केले. शेतीसाठी विद्वत्तेबरोबरच प्रत्येक पिकासाठी लागवडीची
वैज्ञानिक मानके ठरविणे आवश्यक आहे. उत्पादन खर्चात बचत करून सकस व गुणवत्तापूर्ण
उत्पादन मिळावे, यासाठी माननीय मुख्यमंत्री श्री देवेंद्रजी
फडणवीस आणि माननीय राज्यपाल श्री आचार्य देवव्रत हे नैसर्गिक व सेंद्रिय शेतीला
विशेष प्रोत्साहन देत आहेत. या कार्यात विद्यापीठ सक्रियतेने सहभागी असून
‘बायोमिक्स’ आणि इतर सेंद्रिय घटकांचे मोठ्या प्रमाणावर उत्पादन करत आहे.
संशोधनासाठी चालू प्रकल्पांबरोबरच सिरसाद्वारे नवे प्रकल्प उभारले जात असून,
त्यातून मराठवाड्यातील शेतकऱ्यांना आधुनिक तंत्रज्ञान उपलब्ध होणार
आहे. विद्यापीठाच्या सर्वांगीण विकासासाठी जिल्ह्यातील विविध यंत्रणांचे सहकार्य
लाभत आहे. आजच्या कार्यक्रमास जिल्हाधिकारी श्री संजयसिंह चव्हाण आणि आयुक्त श्री
नितीन नार्वेकर यांची उपस्थिती हे त्याचे उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण असल्याचेही त्यांनी नमूद
केले.
विस्तारकार्याच्या
संदर्भात त्यांनी सांगितले की, प्रत्येक महिन्याच्या दुसऱ्या बुधवारी
‘माझा एक दिवस माझ्या बळीराजासोबत’ तसेच आठवड्यातून दोन वेळा ‘ऑनलाइन
शेतकरी–शास्त्रज्ञ संवाद’ आयोजित केला जातो. यामुळे शेतकऱ्यांच्या ज्ञानात लक्षणीय
भर पडत असून, विद्यापीठाच्या कुलगुरूंना ‘शेतकऱ्यांचे
कुलगुरू’ म्हणून ओळख मिळत आहे.
विद्यार्थ्यांना
संदेश देताना त्यांनी सांगितले की, शिक्षण घेऊन केवळ नोकरीच्या
मागे न धावता उद्योजकतेकडे वळावे. विद्या घेऊन चारित्र्य जोपासावे; चारित्र्यातून विनम्रता येते, विनम्रतेतून पात्रता
निर्माण होते आणि पात्रतेतून धन व समाधान प्राप्त होते. विद्या, धन आणि शक्ती यांचा सदुपयोग करावा. तसेच नीतीमूल्ये जपत इतरांच्या अडचणी व
व्यथा समजून घ्याव्यात आणि ‘सर्वांच्या भल्याचा’ दृष्टिकोन ठेवावा. आपल्या
इच्छा–अपेक्षा सजगतेने ठरवून त्यांची पूर्तता करण्यासाठी कठोर परिश्रम करावेत,
असेही त्यांनी सांगितले.
समारंभाच्या
स्वागतपर भाषणात शिक्षण संचालक डॉ. भगवान आसेवार यांनी सर्व मान्यवरांचे हार्दिक
स्वागत केले. त्यांनी विद्यापीठाच्या प्रगती व कार्याची माहिती देत सांगितले की, विद्यापीठाने
विविध क्षेत्रांत उल्लेखनीय कामगिरी करून भारतीय कृषी संशोधन परिषदेने ‘अ’ दर्जाची
अधिस्वीकृती प्राप्त केली आहे. विद्यापीठाला अनेक राष्ट्रीय व आंतरराष्ट्रीय
मान-सन्मानही मिळाले आहेत. तसेच, जुने व नवीन महाविद्यालयांमार्फत
विद्यापीठाने आजपर्यंत एकूण १,२९,२८४
विद्यार्थ्यांना कृषी शिक्षण प्रदान केले असून, शेतकऱ्यांसाठी
सक्षम व प्रभावी मनुष्यबळ घडवले आहे.
दीक्षांत समारंभात
महाराष्ट्राचे माननीय मुख्यमंत्री नामदार श्री देवेंद्रजी फडणवीस यांनी शेती व
शेतकरी विकासासाठी अनेक महत्त्वपूर्ण उपक्रम राबविले असून धोरणात्मक निर्णय घेतले
आहेत, तसेच ‘स्मार्ट प्रोजेक्ट’, ‘पोक्रा’
तसेच महाराष्ट्र कृषी एआय धोरण यामुळे महाराष्ट्र आज भारतातील कृषी क्षेत्रातील
‘लाइट हाऊस स्टेट’ म्हणून उदयास येत आहे. त्यांच्या दूरदर्शी नेतृत्वाखाली
महाराष्ट्र हे ‘महाॲग्री एआय पॉलिसी २०२५–२०२९’ जाहीर करणारे
देशातील पहिले राज्य ठरले आहे. यासोबतच जलयुक्त शिवार अभियान, शेतीमालाला हमीभाव आणि बाजारपेठ उपलब्ध करून देणे, पायाभूत
सुविधा व सिंचन प्रकल्पांचा विस्तार, पाणी संवर्धन, आधुनिक तंत्रज्ञानाचा प्रसार, शेतकऱ्यांसाठी आर्थिक
मदत, अन्नप्रक्रिया व मूल्यसाखळी विकास, बाजार सुधारणा तसेच डिजिटल शेती यांसारख्या उपक्रमांद्वारे त्यांनी
राज्यातील शेती क्षेत्रात सकारात्मक बदल घडवून आणले आहेत. ग्रामीण विकासातील
त्यांच्या उल्लेखनीय योगदानाची नोंद घेऊन वसंतराव नाईक मराठवाडा कृषि विद्यापीठाने
त्यांना ‘डॉक्टर ऑफ सायन्स’ (मानद) पदवी प्रदान करून
सन्मानित केले.
तसेच परभणी
जिल्ह्यातील माळसोन्ना येथील प्रगतीशील शेतकरी आणि ज्येष्ठ कार्यकर्ते माननीय
श्री. श्रीरंग देवबा लाड यांनाही ‘डॉक्टर ऑफ सायन्स’ (मानद) पदवी प्रदान करून
सन्मानित करण्यात आले. त्यांचा शेतकऱ्यांशी सातत्यपूर्ण आणि घनिष्ठ संपर्क, तसेच
राष्ट्रीय स्तरावर मान्यता प्राप्त “दादा लाड कापूस तंत्रज्ञान” हे त्यांचे सर्वात
मोठे योगदान मानले जाते. सन २००२ – ०३ पासून शेतकरी-आधारित संशोधनातून त्यांनी
कापूस पिकातील उत्पादकता कमी करणाऱ्या गळफांदी (मोनोपोडियल) फांद्यांचा सखोल
अभ्यास करून त्यांच्या प्रारंभीक छाटणीची प्रभावी पद्धत विकसित केली. शेंडा खुडणी,
अतीघन लागवड, ठिबक सिंचन आणि आच्छादन या
तंत्रांचा एकत्रित अवलंब करून त्यांनी कापूस पिकासाठी समग्र, वैज्ञानिक आणि नफावर्धक तंत्रज्ञान विकसित केले. या पद्धतीमुळे उत्पादक
फांद्यांकडे अन्नद्रव्यांचा पुरवठा वाढतो, बोंडांचे वजन अधिक
होते, किडींचा प्रादुर्भाव कमी होतो, पीक
कालावधी कमी होतो आणि शेतकऱ्यांचा नफा मोठ्या प्रमाणात वाढतो. याचबरोबर, चार दशकांहून अधिक काळ लाल कांधारी या देशी गायीच्या जातीच्या संवर्धन आणि
प्रसारासाठी त्यांनी उल्लेखनीय आणि व्यापक कार्य केले आहे.
दीक्षांत समारंभात
सन २०२४–२५ या शैक्षणिक वर्षातील विविध विद्याशाखांतील पदवी, पदव्युत्तर
पदवी आणि आचार्य पदवी पूर्ण करणाऱ्या एकूण २९६८ स्नातकांना पदव्या अनुग्रहीत
करण्यात आल्या. यामध्ये आचार्य पदवीचे ४४, पदव्युत्तर पदवीचे
३३३, आणि पदवी अभ्यासक्रमाचे २५९१ स्नातकांचा समावेश आहे. यासोबतच,
दीक्षांत समारंभात सन २०२४–२५ या शैक्षणिक वर्षातील विविध
अभ्यासक्रमांसाठी विद्यापीठ आणि दात्यांकडून निश्चित केलेली सुवर्ण पदके, रौप्य पदके आणि रोख पारितोषिके पात्र स्नातकांना मान्यवरांच्या शुभहस्ते
प्रदान करण्यात आली. एकूण ६३ पदके आणि प्रमाणपत्रांचे वितरण करण्यात आले.

११ दात्यांकडून प्रदान केलेली सुवर्ण पदके, १ रौप्य
पदक, १२ रोख पारितोषिके, तसेच २५ पदव्युत्तर
गुणवत्ताप्रमाणपत्रांचा समावेश आहे.
पीएच.डी. पदवी
प्रमाणपत्रे,
पदके आणि इतर प्रमाणपत्रे दीक्षांत समारंभास उपस्थित असलेल्या
पदवीधारकांना प्रदान करण्यात आली. तसेच इतर स्नातकांना त्यांच्या संबंधित महाविद्यालये
व विभागांमध्ये याच दिवशी पदवी प्रमाणपत्रे वितरित करण्यात आली.
याबरोबरच, माननीय
मुख्यमंत्री नामदार श्री देवेंद्रजी फडणवीस यांनी विद्यापीठात नुकत्याच पार
पडलेल्या संयुक्त कृषि संशोधन परिषदेत प्रयोगशील आणि उल्लेखनीय कार्य करणाऱ्या
शेतकऱ्यांना ‘शेतकरी शास्त्रज्ञ पुरस्कार’ प्रदान करण्याची सूचना केली होती.
त्यांच्या सूचनेनुसार, विद्यापीठाने मराठवाड्यातील आठही
जिल्ह्यांमधून निवड समितीच्या अहवालानुसार सर्वसाधारण गटातील नऊ आणि महिला गटातील
दोन, अशा एकूण अकरा शेतकऱ्यांची निवड करून त्यांना दीक्षांत
समारंभात ‘शेतकरी शास्त्रज्ञ पुरस्कार’ देऊन गौरविण्यात आले.
यावर्षीच्या दीक्षांत समारंभात विद्यावस्त्रांमध्ये सकारात्मक बदल करण्यात
आला.
विद्यार्थी तसेच अधिकारी,
कर्मचारी आणि प्राध्यापकवर्ग यांनी पांढरा कुर्ता-पायजमा परिधान
केला, तर विद्यार्थिनी तसेच महिला अधिकारी आणि कर्मचारी
यांनी क्रीम रंगाची साडी व ब्लाउज परिधान केला. हा सकारात्मक बदल यापूर्वी
राष्ट्रीय पातळीवरील अनेक विद्यापीठांनी स्वीकारला असून, या
विद्यापीठानेही यावर्षी तो अवलंबिला आहे.

शहरातील प्रतिष्ठित नागरिक,

The 27th Convocation of Vasantrao Naik
Marathwada Agricultural University Concluded with Enthusiasm
Under the auspices of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the
University, Prof. (Dr.) Indra Mani, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra,
Shri Devendraji Fadnavis, and Hon’ble Shri Shrirang Devba Lad were honored with
the Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) degree. Additionally, a total of 2,968
graduates were awarded various degrees and felicitated.
Students should utilize their knowledge not only for
personal progress but also for national development. — Hon’ble Former Director

Students should
use the knowledge they have acquired for personal, familial, and national
development, and should work continuously with awareness. They should
consistently engage in actions that build their capabilities and uphold human
values, emphasized Dr. Mangala Rai, former Director General of the Indian
Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and former Secretary of the Department
of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE). He was speaking at the
convocation address of the 27th Convocation of Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi
Vidyapeeth. The convocation was successfully held on 11th December 2025.
The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor
of the university, Prof. (Dr.) Indra Mani, presided over the chair. On the
dais, the following dignitaries were present: the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr.
Sharad Gadakh (PDKV); Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vilas Kharchhe (MPKV); Respected
District Collector, Mr. Sanjaysingh Chavan; the Municipal Commissioner, Mr.
Nitin Narwekar; progressive farmer and senior activist, Mr. Shrirang Devba Lad;
former Vice-Chancellors of the Dr. Vedprakash Patil, Dr. K. P. Gore, Dr. Ashok
Dhavan; members of the Agricultural Council Mr. Janardhan Katkade, University
Registrar Mr. Santosh Venikar, Director of Education Dr. Bhagwan Asewar,
Director of Research Dr. Khizar Beg, Director of Extension Education Dr. Rakesh
Ahire, Comptroller Mr. Anant Kadam, University Engineer Mr. Deepak Kashalkar, SDM
Mr. Uday Bhosale, former Directors of the University, Dr. P. R. Shivpuje, Dr.
Dharmaraj Gokhale, Dr. S. D. More, among other dignitaries.
While speaking
further, they appreciated the remarkable work of the university and conveyed
heartfelt best wishes to the students, teachers, and the entire university
community. Noting that some students had won three awards each in this
convocation, they expressed their satisfaction. They said that awards come with
hard work and efficiency increases through effort, which is evident from this.
Speaking about the changing directions of Indian agriculture and
future opportunities, they stated that Indian farming can reach greater heights
if it receives new technology, research-based guidance, and proper training.
They emphasized that Indian farmers have great capacity to effectively tackle
challenges such as climate change, water scarcity, soil health, and changing
markets; they only need accurate information and integration with modern
technology. They further explained that precision farming, water conservation
techniques, seed improvement, artificial intelligence, and digital agriculture
are the key components that will give new momentum to agricultural development
in the coming decade.
According
to the National Education Policy–2020, they specifically highlighted the
following points: curriculum reforms, excellence in research and technology
transfer, value-based approaches in education, the fundamental need for
“investment and more investment” in agricultural development, creation of
integrated and modern agricultural systems for farmer and agriculture
development, establishment of region-specific sustainable production systems,
conservation of soil, water, and biodiversity, effective implementation of crop
protection, input–output based agricultural models, and the development of
multi-dimensional agro-ecosystems.
In
the presidential address, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Indra Mani
mentioned the greetings sent by the Hon’ble Governors of Maharashtra and
Gujarat and the Hon’ble Chancellor of the University, Shri Acharya Devvrat, as
well as by the Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the
University, Shri Dattatray Bharne, for the convocation ceremony. The
Vice-Chancellor expressed his happiness and congratulated Hon’ble Chief
Minister Shri Devendraji Fadnavis and the progressive farmer Shri Shrirang (Dada)
Lad for being honored with the ‘Doctor of Science’ (Honoris Causa) degree. He
also expressed satisfaction over the conferring of the ‘Farmer Scientist Award’
to innovative farmers, as recommended by the Hon’ble Chief Minister. He stated
that this award is not just an honor for an individual farmer but represents
recognition for the entire agricultural system and all stakeholders involved in
farming.
The
Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the University operates with the philosophy of ‘Let
the farmer be God’ (“Shethkari Devo Bhavah”) and functions based on student-centric
education, innovative research, farmer- centric extension work, and
employee-focused administration. He noted that all departments of the
University have contributed sincerely to these efforts. On the research front,
the University plays a significant role in risk management, increasing
production, and providing modern technology. The University has made notable
contributions to research on cotton, soybean, and pigeon pea (tur).
He expressed
concern over some farmers obtaining lower-than-expected yields and urged
researchers to focus more on these issues and guide the direction of research
accordingly. He emphasized that for agriculture, alongside expertise, it is
necessary to establish scientific cultivation standards for each crop.
To achieve cost
savings in production while ensuring robust and quality output, Hon’ble Chief
Minister Shri Devendraji Fadnavis and Hon’ble Governor Shri Acharya Devvrat are
giving special encouragement to natural and organic farming. The university is
actively participating in this initiative and is producing large quantities of
‘Biomix’ and other organic components. Alongside ongoing research projects, new
projects are being launched through Sirsa, which will provide modern technology
to farmers in the Marathwada region. Various district-level agencies are
collaborating for the all-round development of the university. The presence of
District Collector Shri Sanjaysingh Chavan and Commissioner Shri Nitin Narwekar
at today’s program is an excellent example of this collaboration, they noted.
Regarding extension activities, they mentioned that on the second
Wednesday of every month, the program ‘One Day With My Farmer’ is organized,
along with ‘Online Farmer–Scientist Dialogue’ held twice a week. These
initiatives are significantly enhancing farmers’ knowledge, and the
university’s Vice-Chancellors are gaining recognition as the ‘Vice-Chancellors
of Farmers.’
Addressing the students, they advised that after acquiring
education, one should not run only after jobs but turn toward entrepreneurship.
They emphasized cultivating character along with knowledge; from character
comes humility, from humility comes competence, and from competence comes wealth
and contentment. Knowledge, wealth, and power should be used wisely. They also
urged students to uphold ethical values, understand the difficulties and
sorrows of others, and maintain a perspective of ‘welfare of all.’ One should
consciously set goals and work diligently to achieve them.
In
the welcome speech at the ceremony, Director of Education Dr. Bhagwan Asewar
extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries. He provided information about
the progress and achievements of the university, stating that the university
has accomplished remarkable work in various fields and has received an 'A'
grade accreditation from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
The university has also been honored with numerous national and international
awards. Furthermore, through its old and new colleges, the university has
provided agricultural education to a total of 1,29,284 students to date,
thereby developing a capable and effective workforce for farmers.
At the
convocation ceremony, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra
Fadnavis, has implemented numerous significant initiatives for agricultural and
farmer development and has taken strategic decisions. With programs like the
‘Smart Project,’ ‘POCRA,’ and the Maharashtra Agricultural AI Policy,
Maharashtra is emerging as a ‘Lighthouse State’ in India’s agricultural sector.
Under his visionary leadership, Maharashtra became the first state in the
country to announce the ‘MahaAgri AI Policy 2025–2029.’ Additionally, through
initiatives such as the Jal Yukta Shivar Abhiyan, ensuring minimum support
prices and market access for agricultural produce, expansion of infrastructure
and irrigation projects, water conservation, dissemination of modern
technology, financial support for farmers, development of food processing and
value chains, market reforms, and digital agriculture, he has brought about
positive changes in the state’s agricultural sector. In recognition of his
remarkable contributions to rural development, Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural
University honored him with the degree of ‘Doctor of Science’ (Honoris Causa).
Progressive
farmer and senior activist, Hon. Mr. Shrirang Devba Lad from Malsonna, Parbhani
district, was also honored with the degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa).
His continuous and close engagement with farmers, as well as his nationally
recognized contribution known as the “Dada Lad Cotton Technology”, is
considered his greatest achievement.
Since 2002–03, through farmer-based research, he conducted
in-depth studies on the monopodial branches that reduce productivity in cotton
crops and developed an effective method for their early pruning. By integrating
techniques such as branch trimming, high-density planting, drip irrigation, and
mulching, he developed a comprehensive, scientific, and profitable technology
for cotton cultivation. This approach enhances nutrient supply to productive
branches, increases boll weight, reduces pest infestation, shortens crop
duration, and significantly boosts farmers’ profits.
In addition, for over
four decades, he has carried out remarkable and extensive work in the conservation
and promotion of the indigenous Red Kandhari breed of cattle.
At the
convocation ceremony, a total of 2,968 graduates from various faculties for the
academic year 2024–25 were awarded degrees. This included 44 doctoral degrees, 333
postgraduate degrees, and 2,591 undergraduate degrees. In addition, during the
convocation, gold medals, silver medals, and cash prizes designated by the
university and donors for various courses of the academic year 2024–25 were
presented to eligible graduates by dignitaries. A total of 63 medals and
certificates were distributed. This comprised 14 university gold medals, 11
gold medals presented by donors, 1 silver medal, 12 cash prizes, and 25
postgraduate merit certificates.
Ph.D. degree
certificates, medals, and other certificates were awarded to the degree holders
present at the convocation ceremony. Additionally, other graduates received
their degree certificates on the same day at their respective colleges and
departments.
Along with this,
Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Devendraji Fadnavis had suggested that farmers who
had carried out experimental and remarkable work be awarded the ‘Farmer
Scientist Award’ at the recently held Joint Agricultural Research Council at
the university. Following his suggestion, the university, based on the report
of the selection committee from all eight districts of Marathwada, selected a
total of eleven farmers—nine from the general category and two from the women’s
category—and honored them with the ‘Farmer Scientist Award’ at the convocation.
This year, a
positive change was made in the ‘Vidya Vastra’ for the convocation ceremony.
Male students, as well as officers, staff, and faculty members, wore white
kurta-pajamas, while female students, officers, and staff wore cream-colored
sarees with blouses. This positive change had previously been adopted by many
universities at the national level, and this year, the university has also
implemented it.
The program was
conducted by Dr. Veena Bhalerao and Dr. Ranjit Chavan. The convocation ceremony
witnessed a large gathering of the city’s distinguished citizens, senior
administrative officers, dignitaries, progressive farmers, as well as
university officers, staff, graduates, and their parents.
