Enthusiastically in Shramdaan

On the occasion
of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, a cleanliness drive was organized under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ at Vasantrao
Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth (VNMKV), Parbhani, including the university
headquarters, all constituent colleges and research centres within its
jurisdiction, on Friday, 2 October
2026. The campaign was organized as per the directions of the
Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.)
Indra Mani.
Under the
guidance of the Director of Education, Dr.
Babasaheb Thombre, the campaign witnessed enthusiastic
participation from the Deans, National Service Scheme (NSS) Programme Officers,
teaching and non-teaching staff, and students of all five colleges of the
university—College of Agriculture,
College of Community Science, College of Horticulture, College of Food
Technology, and College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology.
A total of 1,200 students,
including 650 male students and 550
female students, participated enthusiastically in the drive.
As part of the
campaign, the students undertook approximately two hours of voluntary shramdaan in the morning and
cleaned the college premises, internal roads and various locations in and
around the campus. Through their active participation in shramdaan, the
students conveyed the message of cleanliness, dignity of labour and social
responsibility.
Since 1,200
students contributed two hours each, the campaign resulted in 2,400 person-hours of shramdaan.
Considering six hours as one person-day, this is equivalent to approximately 400 person-days of voluntary labour.
All faculty
members, officers, employees and students of the colleges participated
enthusiastically in the campaign. Plastic waste, food packaging wrappers and Congress grass (Parthenium) were
removed, making the college premises clean and litter-free. Students also
raised slogans promoting cleanliness, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and
awareness across the campus.
