लिंबूवर्गीय फळपिकांच्या संशोधन व विकासाला मिळणार नवी दिशा; मराठवाड्यातील लिंबूवर्गीय फळपिकांच्या विकासाला चालना

 वनामकृवि, परभणी आणि भाकृअप–केंद्रीय लिंबूवर्गीय फळ संशोधन संस्था, नागपूर यांच्यात सामंजस्य करार

लिंबूवर्गीय फळपिकांच्या क्षेत्रातील संशोधन, तंत्रज्ञान विकास, ज्ञानाची देवाणघेवाण आणि शेतकरी-केंद्रित उपक्रमांना अधिक गती देण्यासाठी वसंतराव नाईक मराठवाडा कृषि विद्यापीठ, परभणी आणि भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान परिषद–केंद्रीय लिंबूवर्गीय फळ संशोधन संस्था (ICAR–Central Citrus Research Institute), नागपूर यांच्यात दिनांक ८ ऑगस्ट २०२६ रोजी महत्त्वपूर्ण सामंजस्य करार (MoU) करण्यात आला.

या सामंजस्य करारावर वसंतराव नाईक मराठवाडा कृषि विद्यापीठ, परभणीचे माननीय कुलगुरू प्रा. (डॉ.) इन्द्र मणि आणि भाकृअप–केंद्रीय लिंबूवर्गीय फळ संशोधन संस्था, नागपूरचे माननीय संचालक डॉ. दिलीप घोष यांनी संबंधित संस्थांच्या वतीने स्वाक्षऱ्या केल्या.

या करारामुळे दोन्ही संस्थांमधील संशोधन व विकास सहकार्याला संस्थात्मक स्वरूप प्राप्त होणार असून, लिंबूवर्गीय फळपिकांच्या उत्पादन, उत्पादकता, गुणवत्ता, कीड-रोग व्यवस्थापन, आधुनिक लागवड तंत्रज्ञान, गुणवत्तापूर्ण लागवड साहित्य, पोषण व्यवस्थापन, काढणीपश्चात तंत्रज्ञान आणि शाश्वत उत्पादन प्रणाली यांसारख्या विविध क्षेत्रांत संयुक्तपणे कार्य करण्याच्या संधी उपलब्ध होणार आहेत.

या सामंजस्य करारांतर्गत दोन्ही संस्थांमध्ये संयुक्त संशोधन प्रकल्प व विकासात्मक उपक्रम राबविणे, संशोधन निष्कर्ष व तांत्रिक ज्ञानाची देवाणघेवाण, अत्याधुनिक संशोधन सुविधा व तज्ज्ञ मनुष्यबळाचा परस्पर उपयोग, क्षमता विकास कार्यक्रम, प्रशिक्षण व कार्यशाळांचे आयोजन तसेच विद्यार्थी, संशोधक व शास्त्रज्ञांचे परस्पर शैक्षणिक व तांत्रिक संवाद वाढविण्यात येणार आहेत. तसेच लिंबूवर्गीय फळपिकांशी संबंधित आधुनिक तंत्रज्ञानाचा शेतकऱ्यांपर्यंत प्रभावी प्रसार करण्यासाठी प्रात्यक्षिके, प्रशिक्षण, तंत्रज्ञान हस्तांतरण आणि विस्तार उपक्रम संयुक्तपणे राबविण्याच्या दृष्टीनेही या करारामुळे नवीन मार्ग खुले होणार आहेत.

यावेळी माननीय कुलगुरू प्रा. (डॉ.) इन्द्र मणि यांनी सांगितले की, मराठवाड्यातील विविध भागांमध्ये लिंबू, संत्रा, मोसंबी आदी लिंबूवर्गीय फळपिकांना मोठी क्षमता असून, हवामानातील बदल, अनियमित पर्जन्यमान, पाणीटंचाई, कीड-रोगांचा प्रादुर्भाव, उत्पादन खर्चातील वाढ आणि गुणवत्तापूर्ण उत्पादनाची गरज यांसारख्या आव्हानांच्या पार्श्वभूमीवर आधुनिक व शाश्वत तंत्रज्ञानाची आवश्यकता वाढली आहे. या पार्श्वभूमीवर सदर सामंजस्य करार मराठवाड्यातील लिंबूवर्गीय फळ उत्पादक शेतकऱ्यांसाठी विशेष महत्त्वाचा ठरणार आहे.

यासाठी दोन्ही संस्थांकडे उपलब्ध असलेली तज्ज्ञता, संशोधन सुविधा, तंत्रज्ञान आणि मनुष्यबळ यांचा परस्पर समन्वय साधल्यामुळे लिंबूवर्गीय फळपिकांवरील संशोधनाला निश्चितच नवी दिशा मिळेल. संशोधनातून विकसित होणारे तंत्रज्ञान शेतकऱ्यांपर्यंत पोहोचविणे आणि त्यातून उत्पादन, उत्पादकता व गुणवत्तेत वाढ घडवून आणणे हा या सहकार्याचा महत्त्वाचा उद्देश आहे.

त्यांनी पुढे नमूद केले की, हवामान बदलाच्या पार्श्वभूमीवर कमी पाण्यात अधिक उत्पादन, संसाधनांचा कार्यक्षम वापर, शाश्वत बाग व्यवस्थापन आणि गुणवत्तापूर्ण उत्पादनासाठी आधुनिक तंत्रज्ञान विकसित करणे आवश्यक आहे. या दृष्टीने केंद्रीय लिंबूवर्गीय फळ संशोधन संस्था, नागपूर यांच्यासोबतचे सहकार्य विद्यापीठाच्या संशोधन व विस्तार कार्याला अधिक बळकटी देणारे ठरेल.

शेतकरी, विद्यार्थी व संशोधकांना थेट लाभ

या सामंजस्य कराराचा लाभ लिंबूवर्गीय फळ उत्पादक शेतकरी, विद्यार्थी, पदव्युत्तर विद्यार्थी, संशोधक, शास्त्रज्ञ आणि विस्तार कार्यकर्ते यांना होणार आहे. विद्यार्थ्यांना अत्याधुनिक संशोधनाचा प्रत्यक्ष अनुभव मिळण्याबरोबरच संशोधकांना राष्ट्रीय स्तरावरील तज्ज्ञांशी संवाद साधण्याची आणि संयुक्त संशोधनाच्या संधी उपलब्ध होणार आहेत.

दोन्ही संस्थांच्या परस्पर सहकार्यामुळे नवीन संशोधन संकल्पना, तंत्रज्ञान निर्मिती, ज्ञानाचा प्रसार, कौशल्य विकास आणि शेतकऱ्यांपर्यंत आधुनिक कृषि तंत्रज्ञानाचे हस्तांतरण यांना निश्चितच चालना मिळेल. विशेषतः लिंबूवर्गीय फळपिकांच्या शाश्वत व हवामान-सक्षम उत्पादन प्रणाली विकसित करण्यासाठी हे सहकार्य महत्त्वपूर्ण ठरणार असल्याचा विश्वास यावेळी व्यक्त करण्यात आला.

या सामंजस्य करारामुळे संशोधनातून तंत्रज्ञान आणि तंत्रज्ञानातून शेतकऱ्यांच्या उत्पन्नवाढीकडे जाणाऱ्या प्रक्रियेला अधिक गती मिळणार असून, लिंबूवर्गीय फळपिकांच्या क्षेत्राच्या सर्वांगीण विकासासाठी हे सहकार्य एक महत्त्वपूर्ण आणि दूरगामी पाऊल ठरणार आहे.

या कराराची संपूर्ण प्रक्रिया नागपूर येथील भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान परिषद–केंद्रीय लिंबूवर्गीय फळ संशोधन संस्था येथे पार पडली. यावेळी माननीय कुलगुरूंचे विशेष कार्यासन अधिकारी तथा कृषि रसायन व मृदा शास्त्र विभागाचे प्रमुख डॉ. हरिहर कौसडीकर, तसेच केंद्रीय लिंबूवर्गीय फळ संशोधन संस्थेचे शास्त्रज्ञ व अधिकारी उपस्थित होते.

New Direction for Research and Development in Citrus Fruit Crops; Boost to Citrus Development in Marathwada

 

MoU signed between VNMKV, Parbhani and ICAR–Central Citrus Research Institute, Nagpur

 

A significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is signed on 8 August 2026 between Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth (VNMKV), Parbhani, and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research–Central Citrus Research Institute (ICAR–CCRI), Nagpur, to accelerate research, technology development, knowledge exchange, and farmer-centric initiatives in the field of citrus crops.

The MoU was signed on behalf of the respective institutions by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Indra Mani of Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani, and Hon’ble Director Dr. Dilip Ghosh of ICAR–Central Citrus Research Institute, Nagpur.

The MoU will provide an institutional framework for strengthening research and development collaboration between the two organizations. It will create opportunities for joint efforts in various areas related to citrus crops, including production and productivity enhancement, quality improvement, pest and disease management, modern cultivation technologies, quality planting material, nutrient management, post-harvest technologies, and sustainable production systems.

Under the MoU, the two institutions will undertake joint research projects and developmental activities, facilitate the exchange of research findings and technical knowledge, and promote the mutual utilization of advanced research facilities and expert human resources. Capacity-building programmes, training programmes, and workshops will also be organized. The academic and technical interaction among students, researchers, and scientists will be strengthened through mutual collaboration.

The MoU will also open new avenues for the joint implementation of demonstrations, training programmes, technology transfer, and extension activities to ensure the effective dissemination of modern technologies related to citrus crops to farmers.

On the occasion, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Indra Mani stated that citrus crops such as lemon, orange, and sweet orange (mosambi) have significant potential in various parts of Marathwada. In the context of challenges such as climate change, erratic rainfall, water scarcity, pest and disease incidence, rising production costs, and the growing demand for quality produce, the need for modern and sustainable technologies has increased considerably. Against this backdrop, the MoU will be particularly significant for citrus-growing farmers in the Marathwada region.

He further stated that the effective integration of the expertise, research facilities, technologies, and human resources available with both institutions will give a new direction to research on citrus crops. A key objective of this collaboration is to ensure that technologies developed through research reach farmers effectively and contribute to improvements in production, productivity, and quality.

He further emphasized that, in view of climate change, it is essential to develop modern technologies for higher productivity with less water, efficient utilization of resources, sustainable orchard management, and quality production. In this regard, collaboration with ICAR–Central Citrus Research Institute, Nagpur, will further strengthen the research and extension activities of the University.

Direct Benefits to Farmers, Students and Researchers

The MoU will directly benefit citrus-growing farmers, students, postgraduate students, researchers, scientists, and extension personnel. Students will gain practical exposure to advanced research, while researchers will have opportunities to interact with experts at the national level and undertake collaborative research.

The mutual cooperation between the two institutions will provide impetus to new research concepts, technology development, knowledge dissemination, skill development, and the transfer of modern agricultural technologies to farmers. The collaboration is expected to play an important role in developing sustainable and climate-resilient production systems for citrus crops.

The MoU will accelerate the process of translating research into technology and technology into increased farmers’ income, making this collaboration an important and far-reaching step towards the comprehensive development of the citrus sector.

The entire MoU signing ceremony was held at the ICAR–Central Citrus Research Institute, Nagpur. On the occasion, Dr. Harihar Kausadikar, Officer on Special Duty to the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor and Head, Department of Agricultural Chemistry and Soil Science, VNMKV, along with scientists and officers of the ICAR–Central Citrus Research Institute, Nagpur, were present.
